Why I Love to Intern with UniMates

Updated: Nov 19, 2018

Previously, our founder Ekaterina wrote about who we are and how you could get involved. The best way for you all to be a part of this team is by taking on an internship position and I want to talk to you about what it has been like interning with UniMates

My name is Eszter and I am UniMates’ Digital Marketing Intern during the fall semester of 2018. I believe that startups can give you so many opportunities, where you are free to create and free to follow the lead you are on, in comparison to big corporations that often give you one task and ask you to do the exact same task for the duration of the internship. This sounds boring, doesn’t it? Well, let me tell you a little bit about my experience with UniMates.

I started about a month ago, but I am extremely happy I got this opportunity. At first, I applied because I had heard about the app at school and knew about it, and a marketing position seemed perfect for me as I am studying marketing.

I was super nervous about the interview process and I was anxiously waiting for the decision letters, but when I finally got it, they congratulated me and welcomed me to the team. I was excited, but I also thought to myself, “now what?”.

The first week I got to know the team and how we work together as we are located in four different time zones. By the second week, me and the other interns jumped into the workload and tasks. I started out by having so many ideas and things I wanted to try out to see how it would work. Our supervisors helped me understand that research does not end when school ends, and whatever I want to try out I need to backup with why that would be the route we should go and why that would be beneficial. Why would we do something for days when it might not help us the way we expected in the end?

If you are ready to take on a challenge and use your creativity, your ideas, and become a part of a team that helps you and allows you to be who you are with projects that will allow you to learn, then you need to join our team right now! We still have a few spots to fill and love meeting ambitious people.
